About Us

Diggidy Dog is proudly owned by Jeff and Napisa Pollock. Opened in May, 2003, the store has grown steadily, year after year. Prior to 2003, Napisa had worked at a pet boutique in downtown Carmel by the Sea, and learned not only what did and didn’t work within the boutique itself, but how wonderful the city of Carmel by the Sea treated dogs. After that store had closed, we researched what it would take to open our own store in Carmel by the Sea, and with a lot of hard work and sacrifice, Diggidy Dog was born.

We wanted to create a store that catered to the pets themselves, in a space that had the room and layout to allow for an overall fun shopping experience. We are so fortunate to have found the 2,000 sq ft space that is Diggidy Dog, which has provided the perfect environment for our business to thrive. From the expansive floor space, small grassy spot just outside the front doors where the dogs can relieve themselves, to even a few dedicated parking spots, our current location is as if it was made for Diggidy Dog!

The products on offer at our store are all decided upon by how unique, functional, and healthy they are. Made in the USA, and having a certain level of style are also a huge factor that determines whether or not it gets floor space at Diggidy Dog. Of course we also prefer to support the small independent vendors, as that’s what helps us to stand out from the big corporate stores. With the current demand for made in the USA pet products growing, we too are placing greater emphasis on providing those items whenever we can. We really don’t have too many items for sale that are actually for humans, as our main focus is of course the dog or cat themselves. Our own personal experience with our past pets, combined with what our current dog, Ellie the 5 lb mini pincher, likes, also help us decide what’s for sale at Diggidy Dog. If Ellie won’t touch it, it likely won’t make the sales floor. We’ve also simply learned what our customers want and like, and will even find certain hard to find items upon request.

The overall vast selection of treats, toys, apparel, and especially collars and leashes, is really what makes us stand out. We’ve also begun making our own t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies for dogs, that we’re also very proud of. If you have a short hair dog that shivers when it’s cold, take a look at our sweatshirts and hoodies, as they’re designed to comfortably fit and keep your best friend warm.
